The dress edit

I think we all know I have a soft spot for dresses. They just tend to suit me, what can I say! I just want to wear what feels comfortable and right for my body shape. I love the fact you can simply style a dress up and down, just by making some subtle changes.

Where it all began

I remember my mum wearing classic dresses from Laura Ashley. She always looked so gorgeous and stylish in them. As a child I would often wear dresses, so it’s always felt very natural to me. My love for fashion started at a young age and I enjoyed the opportunity to study fashion at university. My passion was materialised when I became a visual merchandiser at Topshop.

My style has changed so much over the years. I would only wear short dresses in my twenties – with tights in the Winter and sandals in the Summer. Then the midi dress came into play. Oh my, this was heaven to me. Being 5″3 I have to be careful sometimes, some shapes just don’t do me any favours.

I have several go-to midi dresses in my wardrobe that I can just wear and style differently. Whether it be with trainers in the Spring or heels for a date night, the options are endless.

I’m also quite fond of a floral or polka dot dress. I love how they never go out of fashion and each year they will always be on trend. I’ve created a little collection of my favourite styles – from a classic shirt dress to an oh so flattering wrap dress. Take a look and grab some wardrobe inspiration for this season and next.

The shirt dress is one of my all time favourite looks. Admired by many for its simplicity and versatility, a shirt dress can be dressed up or down depending on your occasion.

I always tend to choose a dress style with a tie belt. If you wear a belt on your loose fitting shirt dress, you instantly appear to have a slender waistline. Plus it exaggerates your curves, which can’t be a bad thing.

Whatever style of shirt dress you choose to wear, you can be sure that it is versatile enough to be worn with a variety of accessories. Whether you wear it with leggings, trainers or high heels, with a shirt dress you always look and feel stylish.

The wrap dress

It’s a wrap! Quite possibly my favourite style of dress. It hides the mum tum and draws the eye across and down to flatter every shape.

To this day, a wrap dress is the number one dress that works for all body shapes. It’s sophisticated, sexy and effortless. I have a large bust which can be quite frustrating when buying clothes. My little secret tip is to use a safety pin on the inside where it feels right – no chance of flashing your cleavage and it feels more secure!

From silk to soft jersey, long sleeves or no sleeves, from mini to maxi lengths. From polka dots to patterned designs – there are infinite styles, and even more infinite ways of wearing a wrap dress.

The midi dress

A dress length I never thought I’d wear. Even short women can pull off ‘the midi’. However so many women I speak to, live in fear of the midi dress.

They worry it will cut them off at the legs or make them look dumpy. Some dresses can certainly do this, but the trick is to find the right style for you.

Dress for every occasion

There really is a dress for every occasion. From weddings to a casual shopping trip with the girls. I love the way they make me feel. Confident, sexy and stylish.
