When we moved in, our kitchen had a bright pink splash-back. And let’s not forget the chipped black worktop and the ugly cabinets, oh the cabinets! We gave this room a little makeover, focusing on new tiles, new worktops and much more. Four years on and we haven’t really touched it since!
Being such a busy space, it’s constantly being used. The paintwork was looking rather tatty and it was in desperate need for a refresh. After painting every room grey in the the house, I wanted to give the kitchen more of an identity. Until we do our dream extension and knock the wall down between the kitchen and playroom, it’s a make do situation! I think I might be waiting a few years to do this though!
The previous shade on the walls was Pavilion Gray by Farrow & Ball. It was a lovely grey shade but I felt the room would suit a much a darker tone. The metro tiles and cupboards are a funny white tone. Therefore, I felt depth could be added to the walls to make them pop a little more.
I knew I wanted to go for a green tone, it was just so hard choosing ‘the one’! Pigeon By Farrow & Ball was a shade I ‘d always liked, I adore green and pink tones together, so I brought a few subtle hints in.
I was close to choosing a really bright green as I’ve seen so many gorgeous shades across Pinterest. However, I think this room needed to stay a little more understated. Perhaps I’ll get braver as I get older! I didn’t want to be in the bad books with the husband. He’s very patient with me and my interior choices.
What do you think? It may not be the most exciting makeover, but it’s made such a difference to our little space!
